This is a fundraiser I have set up for my niece and nephew Abby 2 1/2 years and Declan 7 months old.

I had to turn them over to DHS (Department Of Human Services) on May 30, 2008.
I started watching the babies early that week because their mother had told me she was afraid to leave them with her boyfriend.
My sister in laws boyfriend , who is the father of the baby, had beaten the baby because he had a dirty diaper and wouldn't stop crying.
When he hit the baby the mother was in the same room, witnessed it and did nothing.
This happened on a Tuesday, I had the baby on Wednesday, and Thursday and there was no marks on the baby, but he didnt want to sit up and play. He just wanted to lay down.
I got the baby on Friday morning and took off his shorts to change his diaper, thats when I seen the bruise.
The bruise was on his left thigh and extended onto his left butt cheek. It was red, purple, blue, and had a green imprint of the fathers hand that even included his fingers.
There was a spot where you could see the capillaries in the skin had been broken.

I asked Abby what happened and she said "Daddy, Bubba, Owie.", I asked Abby did you see Daddy hurt Bubba. She nods her head and said " Daddy, Bubba, Owie.".
I asked Abby did Daddy hurt you, all she would say is "Daddy, Bubba, Owie". I had been told previously by the mother that he had hit Abby before when she was pregnant,
thats when she said she became afraid of him.

The cops came out to the house and DHS and took pictures of the baby and the bruise. The DHS worker said that she was going to take the kids to the doctor.
She was afraid that Declan may have a break or a fracture where he got hit, to check if he had been shaken and to drug test both kids because the parents did drugs around them.
The father is a drug dealer and the mother was with him because of the drugs.

Right now the babies are in emergency shelter. There is a court date comiing soon for placement and we are petitioning the judge for them to be placed with us.
I was placed in a bad foster home when I was little and I wish that on no child.
I talked to the police detective on June 18, and he said that he was going that day to arrest the father and possibly the mother for neglecting to report abuse.

UPDATE

I just talked to the police officer today and they still have not arrested the boyfriend for what he did to the kids. The mother lied to the detective, and DHS gave her back temporary custody of the children. I have talked to my lawyer and was told that if she messes up once that DHS will take the kids again and then they will go to us. My husband and I both know how the mother is and that she will screw up again but till then we have to hope and pray that nothing else happens to the kids.
I seen her in town today and she was in the car with him so I know he is back with her ( plus have seen his vehicle at the house as well) and that they are up to their old tricks again. I asked the cops today why they havent done anything after all this time and all the detective could say was that they are busy ( apparently robberies hold precidence over abuse cases) and even though he knows she is lying he cant do anything. I asked if he could go to the house with the drugs as probable cause and he said that he couldnt, it would be considered harassment.

There has been $330 dollars donated so far for them, all the money is being held in an account till we get them, and if we happen to not get them.. it will be saved for them for when they are older.
