This tutorial was written in PSPX2 but is also compatible with all PSP versions.
You will also need a basic working knowledge of PSP for this tutorial
Supplies used for this:
Font= Angelina
Mask=mask21_by_nb2007
Tube=Explicit by Keith Garvey

You may use any font or tube of your choice in this tut but you will need the mask. You can get the mask here
Now we begin
Open your tube and mask in PSP
on your tube you will need to pick a light and dark color from it.
Place the light color as your foregroud.. dark as background
Make a copy of your tube and minimze for later use
minimze your mask for later use
Set your background color to gradient
make a new image size 600 x 600
flood fill with your gradient
Go to Layers
new mask layer
From Image
Select mask21_by_nb2007 then use these settings
click ok then merge group
Now you will need to go to 3d effects
Inner bevel
and use the following settings
Click ok
Now go to 3d effects
Drop Shadow
and use the following settings
Click Ok
Do this again but make the settings -2 instead of 2
Click on your Selection Tool
chose your shape for Octagon
This is the tricky part. You need to make this selection
to go within the boundaries of the inside of the octagon
from the mask. It may take a few tries but you will get it
I promise. How I got it to the first try is start at the upper
left butterfly head and drag to the right .. I also left a little space
between the original octagon and my selection.
Now once you have your selection set go to your tube you copied earlier,
crop it in half. Copy this part.
Go to layers
new raster layer
ok
Go to Edit
Paste into selection
ok
Give it a dropshadow as we did earlier just -2 though
Change the opacity of this layer to 40.
How? go to layers
Properties
Opacity
to 40
or just move the slider if you have your layer palete open
Select none
Go back to your original tube and copy it
Paste as new layer and move it to the right corner or
where ever you would like it to be.
Place drop shadow as before using both positive and negative
Then go to layers
Merge Visible
Now you can add your text
Go to your text tool up at the top find the font you are going to use
I make my text as vectors so I can change their direction
Next make sure your background is still set at gradient
Make size 72 on font
click on image write Explicitly Yours in box click ok
Stretch text if need be, turn it left and place in upper left hand side of octagon
Drop shadow the same as full tube - and +
Layers
merge
merge visible
Take text tool
click on image type name in box
.. stretch and rotate to your desire size
.. drop shadow the same as text before - and +
layers
merge
merge visible
drop shadow with +2 only .. resize if you want and save as PNG format
Congrats
Or if you would like to make into a desktop background
.. add new layer.. send to bottom
Flood fill with your gradient
layers .. merge
